Alan Lewis

Alan joined Linder Myers in 1990. He became a partner in 1998 and was responsible for setting up and heading the employment law department.
Alan has considerable experience of representing both employers and senior employees in a wide range of employment tribunal and High Court disputes. He specialises in:
- restrictive covenants and breaches of confidentiality
- dismissals of directors and senior executives
- Commercial Agents regulations
- redundancy and transfer of undertakings
- unfair dismissal and sex, race and disability discrimination
- drafting directors service agreements, contracts of employment and staff handbooks
Examples of Alan's success for clients include:
- obtaining an injunction in respect of a former employee, preventing him from dealing with former clients or being employed by a competitor company.
- acting for a Chief Executive in a claim for damages regarding unfair dismissal, stress at work and breach of the public interest (Disclosure Act), obtaining considerable compensation on her behalf.
- defending a claim against a firm of solicitors for disability discrimination and striking out the claimant's claim.
- successfully appealing a number of Employment Tribunal decisions in the Employment Appeals Tribunal and Court of Appeal.
Alan is currently:
- advising employers on implementing redundancies
- acting for numerous firms of solicitors and accountants in respect of their employment law issues
- acting for GP's practices and individual GP's in respect of employment issues
- acting for a group of employees pursuing a group action arising out of a reduction in their remuneration
Alan lives in Lancashire with his wife and son. His hobbies and interests include football, boxing, music (occasional guitar player) and supporting Oldham Athletic.

Alan was instrumental in setting up the firm's popular Employ-line scheme which provides outsourced human resources and employment law advice (and insurance) for a fixed fee to employers.
